Hello my magical unicorn friends! I have been meaning to share this post with y'all ever since the marathon expo! I love this outfit so much and received so many questions about it so of course, like any good friend would, I am sharing all of the deets with you! Let me start by saying how thrilled I am that athleisure wear is a thing now! I remember my first date with my Hubby was to a spinning class (when I invited him, I didn't really think he'd come) and afterward he asked if I wanted to go have margaritas. I know, I know, such a contradiction! I looked at him like "are you crazy?" and he thought I was referring to the margaritas post spinning. No, of course I wanted margaritas! You better believe I ordered queso too! I looked at him like he was crazy and told him "I have never gone anywhere in my workout clothes besides the gym". His reply "well today will be your first time!" All these years later, I am SO glad I went! I felt really cute in my workout clothes that day because of course I picked out my best outfit since I knew he would be joining me. However, workout clothes or more commonly known now as athleisure wear has come such a long way! On my days off, I wear workout clothes simply because I want to! Not only are they so comfy but they are so cute! I have also been known to wear a cute pair of workout leggings with heels and a blazer! Why not?
I love this look that is now becoming my weekend dress code, I call it Sporty Chic. I get so many questions about this look and I want all of you to be able to enjoy it for yourselves!
I love beanies because they are so cute and can easily be thrown on when you don't feel like washing your hair! Guilty! Once I purchased my first beanie with a fur pom, it was a done deal! I must have in every color! When I saw these star leggings that have holographic colored stars on them, I felt like the universe was telling me something! I'm pretty sure it was to "buy them" because well that's what I did! These leggings also come in different colors with different color stars! Now I know y'all know my love for unicorns! All of their pretty, colorful, happiness were combined and brought together when making these running shoes! You just have to see them for yourself! They are rainbow, hologram running shoes that feel so happy on your feet. I get asked about them every time I wear them! I swear they give me magical powers and turn me into a real RUNicorn!
Now put on your favorite leggings, tie up your magical unicorn shoes and lets go star gazing! Don't worry about washing your hair, just throw on a beanie and I'll be right over to get ya! See ya soon! Have a happy, magical day and remember to always be Running on Rosé !
Hello everyone! Have you ever ran a marathon? Have you ever wanted to run a marathon? Would you like to run one right from where you are seated? Let's go! Whether you really run or are having fun and just Running on Rosé, I can give you a play by play of what running a marathon is really like. Now remember, I am not a professional runner or even a fast runner, I am simply a pink-loving fun runner! I run simply because I enjoy it and it's my favorite form of exercise and my natural stress reliever. I have been excited to share my Chevron Houston Marathon (26.2 miles) experience with you all! I had been training since September and can't believe I crossed that finish line a week ago! Although I could not walk regularly until yesterday, I am still on my runner's high and so happy that we did it! Knowing that I set this goal for myself over a year ago and completed it makes me feel very proud and thankful for my health. This marathon was my 20th race and 2nd full marathon to date. I prefer running half marathons because my body recovers so much faster but after so many, I was longing for another challenge. My last full marathon was the 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon. No matter how much running I have done, this was still tough and a challenge. I want to be completely honest with this post and hope to inspire and encourage you to run a marathon if it's something you have really wanted to do. If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I thought I would run a marathon, I would have told you "NO"! I only ran back then for exercise. It wasn't until 2010 that I turned my love for running into a sport. Fast forward to 2018 and even I can't believe I've ran 20 races! My love for running started at 5 years old. I'm serious! I remember my mom would dress me in dresses for kindergarten and I always made sure I was wearing shoes that I could run in. Running track was my absolute favorite back then and was until I was a senior in high school. When I was a cheerleader, I could not wait to run track when our exercise called for it! I also remember when I was going through typical high school stress I would lace up my running shoes and head out for a run. I always felt better after and still do to this day. I swear that running is my natural cure all. One time my husband and I (who is my running partner) went out for a run on a beautiful day. We run from our house so we do not have a car to get back home, we have to run back home. Everything was great, the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous Houston day. All of a sudden, a roar of thunder rolled through and huge rain drops were beating down on us! I initially got upset because I had no where to go, my sunscreen was rolling into my eyes and I was cold! We ran for cover under a huge tree and embraced in a tight hug because my husband could see I was shivering. In that moment, we busted out in laughter! You know that silent laughter where your face is stuck and no sound is coming out? THAT kind of laughter! We laughed so hard we cried! I had told my husband once, long before that run, that one of my biggest running fears was to get caught in the rain. Well that day turned out to be one of my best memories to date!
My Hubby always surprises me with the name he puts on our bibs. I don't see it until we pick them up!
I got to meet my runner idol! I have been following Amanda Cruise (@run2pr) and her running journey for a long time and was so excited to meet her! She is so incredibly sweet and gave me great running tips! If you want to get motivated to run, she is one to follow! Thank you Amanda!
I was a very happy runner girl here! I had my teammate by my side, the expo was so motivating, I got to shop and I got to meet my runner idol! It was a great day!
The marathon expo is the beginning of the race weekend. The George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston is where it is located. The expo is held every year prior to the race so each runner can pick up their bib number, get their race shirt, shop and get motivated. The energy at the expo is so positive and the vibe is so energetic. For me, walking into the expo makes the marathon become real! I looked around and realized that we are all there for the same reason, to run! Runners fly in from all over the world for this event and I felt very proud to be a part of it. Talk about nerves starting to kick in!
We walked in, got our bib numbers and did what I went to do...SHOP! Yes you heard me right, SHOP! I love shopping at the race expos because I always find cute unique running attire that I can't find anywhere else! You know I'm a firm believer in sweating pretty and dressing for success so of course I had to purchase some necessities. I have this sixth shopping sense and it drew me to this super cute shop called Sparkle Athletic. I wanted everything! It was all SO cute! My Hubby saw that look in my eye and he knew we would be there for a while. Thank you Hubby! I found some super cute rainbow unicorn compression socks and a unicorn running skirt! Can you imagine how happy I was? I am saving them to wear for the OC Half Marathon in May and I can't wait!
My new Unicorn Rainbow Striped Compression Socks and Unicorn Running Skirt! So meant to be!
We walked around a little more and went into some other pop up shops and then we came upon the Skechers shop which is huge! They are a big sponsor of the Chevron Houston Marathon and they are one of my favorite shops of the expo to visit. Outside of the shop was a huge wall that everyone can sign and I believe it's good luck! (You can see what I wrote on my Instagram post @celerinakd) After our "good luck wall writing" we were on our way out and Meb Keflezighi, THE Meb, (@runmeb) walked right by us! At this time he was starting to get swarmed with a crowd but it was still so awesome to see him a few feet away! I guess the Skechers wall really was good luck!
IT'S RACE DAY!
This is at the start line! We were freezing! Our faces were frozen in a smile! It was 36 degrees and windy. It felt so much colder than 36 degrees and we were so bundled up. I had on gloves, a puffy jacket and hand warmers in my pockets. We knew our family would be at mile 6 so we had planned to hand them our coats at that time.
Although I was freezing, I had to show my favorite leggings some love and the #roséallday! I wore my rosé champagne leggings for good luck and to remind myself that once I crossed that finish line, I would celebrate with my first glass of rosé for 2018! I was holding off until after the marathon so I could earn my bubbly! It was definitely motivation! I also got a lot of cheers along the way for my champagne leggings! Cheers!
This selfie video was taken right before mile 15. You can hear I'm winded but mostly because of the cold, hence my reference of "Running on Frosé". My mouth gets dry because of the cold air so one of my little tricks is, I keep Sport Beans (I prefer the strawberry banana flavor) in the fold of my beanie. I grab one, put it on the side of my mouth and let it dissolve. I did this from mile 9 until I saw the 1/2 mile remaining mark! They not only help my energy level, they helped my electrolytes and kept my mouth/throat from feeling too dry. It's one of my favorite tips. At this point, I was still feeling great and told myself after we saw our family at Mile 15 (we knew they would be there), I would "treat myself" to my music. I say "treat myself" because I don't like to play it until I need it to help me keep going. I also enjoy hearing the crowd cheering at the Houston Marathon because I have never, ever ran a race anywhere else where there is a bigger more supportive crowd than in Houston! It really is so touching to see and hear so many strangers supporting you! Thank you to everyone who came to cheer! I can't say it enough, THANK YOU! I swear at mile 23 y'all helped me get through!
This was right after we crossed the finish line! I couldn't believe we were finally done! You can hear the emotion in my voice. I had just finished having a good cry on my Hubby's chest and we hadn't even received our medals yet. I didn't let myself accept that we were going to make it until we were 1/2 a mile away from the finish line. At the 1/2 mile mark, the crowd and cheers become so loud and my Hubby pointed out my nieces and family in the crowd. I immediately felt choked up and realized the past 5 months of training were about to be summed up in these next few seconds. I felt proud, happy and most of all thankful. I felt thankful for my health, thankful that my mind stayed positive the entire time and thankful to my body for staying strong. I was so thankful to have supportive family and friends there, to know my Granny Girl was watching over us and to cross that finish line hand in hand with my Hubby. Talk about emotion overload! Thank goodness I was wearing sunglasses!
WE DID IT!
We were beaming here! We had just received our medals and our finisher shirts and met up with our family. My legs were heavy and shaky but I didn't even care! I was so overjoyed from the experience and so happy to do it with my team mate!
HAPPY RUNNER GIRL!
Can you tell how happy I was? I was so proud of that medal and felt that I earned it every step of the way! I had just finished eating a banana and drinking Gatorade so that made me happy too!
26.2 FINISHER MEDAL CLOSE UP
This is by far one of the brightest, prettiest medals I have ever received! The colors remind me of a unicorn. This was my 20th race medal and my 2nd 26.2 medal and I appreciate every single one of them! This was earned! Blood, sweat and tears EARNED! These medals tell a story and are my favorite pieces of jewelry...well after my wedding ring of course!
#RUNNING ON ROSÉ
This sign made me smile! I found our family from this sign! My mother-in-law made them and I first saw them at mile 6 and after that, I was able to easily spot them afterward. Thank you fam for all of the love and support!
TEAM DUGAT
We had to have our famous celebratory kiss! This is a remake of the post marathon kiss we shared at the 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon. That year we were dressed as a bride and groom because we were two months away from our wedding and practicing our wedding kiss! Now, we have it perfected! Muah!
Here is a close up of the marathon finisher shirt! It's one of my favorites by far and just like the medal, the colors remind me of a unicorn. I will wear it proudly!
POST MARATHON MEAL
After all of that running, you know I was ready to eat my favorite food! What you didn't see was the bowl of queso I devoured before my meal came out! You know I'm a firm believer in work hard and treat harder!
THE END!
Thank you for sharing my Chevron Houston Marathon journey with me! These last five months have been so special and I appreciate each and every one of y'alls love and support. Are you tired from that run? What is your post race meal going to be? If you have any questions, please ask! I'm happy to share! Stay tuned, our next race is a special one! On February 3rd, 2018 we will run the Dallas Hot Chocolate 15k race and that is the race we got engaged at. Train hard, treat harder and remember to always be Running on Rosé!

Hello loves! I am really enjoying this cold winter we are having here in Houston. Well, that is when I'm not running outside! I have been able to wear so many of my fav winter clothes and actually buy more this year. Usually, our winters are very short and not so cold. When I was younger I didn't love winter clothes because I felt like I looked like Ralphie's little brother from The Christmas Story movie! I was always so bundled up and could hardly breathe! Forget about looking cute! It wasn't until I was older that I learned how to make winter wear fashionable. I have mentioned this before but I love to play up my winter wardrobe with accessories because I can get many uses out of them. I have always loved pastels in the winter because they can brighten the day and make it feel happier! I've also learned the art of layering. I call it an art because it's easy to add layers, yes, but not as easy to add layers and not appear too "layered". I like to keep my layering very tailored and neat. I always wear a nude colored tank (the same color as my skin) under my sweaters to keep me warm and hide my bra lines.
If it were colder day I would have added a pink scarf and pink coat to this look, of course! As you all know, I'm a pink loving gal. If I purchase something in another color, like this powder blue ruffle sweater, I always make sure that I can wear it with pink. Ruffles and bows always seem to catch my eye because they are both so feminine and pretty. I also like to wear white in the winter, always have. To me, "summer whites" turn into "winter whites" once it gets cold. I tried blue denim on with this outfit and wasn't loving it, I put on my "winter white" jeans and loved it! I like to play dress up with my own clothes. I have had these jeans for a couple of years and like them more now than I did before. Funny how that works huh? My husband tells me to "go shop in your closet" when I say I don't have anything to wear and I haven't told him yet but he's right! I really can. That doesn't mean I will stop shopping though! I'm just smarter about it like with these pink accessories I am wearing above. I splurge on pink pieces that will be in my closet for a really long time. I am confident when purchasing pink items because that has been my favorite color since I was a little girl and I don't see that ever changing! I love these girly pink gloves mostly because of the bow. I wear them when I am driving too and my steering wheel immediately becomes so pink and pretty. I have never laid eyes on a pink handbag that I didn't love. This pink bag is my favorite by far! Her name is Pinkalicious (yes I name my bags) and I carry her all year round. I wear this bag as if it is a neutral color and it goes with so much more than I had anticipated. Even if it didn't, I would still wear it anyway!
Now that I appreciate winter fashion a whole lot more, I have some shopping to do...in my closet that is! Today I am on the hunt for ruffles, bows and anything PINK! Stay layered, stay warm, stay chic and remember to always be Running On Rosé!
Hello Dahhhlings! I hope everyone is having a great week! I wanted to share this Creme de la Creme look with y'all including my love for coffee. I have this thing for pink accessories. Every time I see an accessory I love, I ask "Do you have this in pink? If so, I'll take it?" I love pink so much that when I wear other colors I still like to incorporate pink somewhere. It makes me happy. Pops of pink can bring any outfit to life, even a white t-shirt and jeans. If I am purchasing something in pink that is a current trend, I don't spend a lot on it because I know I won't be wearing it for very long. If I have been eyeing something pink for a while (like a bag or shoes) or it's on my wishlist, I tend to "invest" in an item so I can add it to my collection and wear it for a while. I have had the beanie, bag and shoes in the pics above for a while and plan on wearing them forever, because to me pink is ALWAYS trending.
I also have this thing for coffee. If I see it, smell it or think about it, I want it! Coffee is a treat for me, daily! I like to start my morning with a nice cup of coffee and some days, I like to have a cup in the afternoon. I prefer hot coffee in the morning and iced in the afternoon as a little pick me up during my work day. I also like it as a dessert! I guess it's safe to say, I love coffee! I really enjoy going to have coffee. Much like going to a restaurant, I like to find coffee shops and sit there and enjoy a cup of coffee. When I travel anywhere, one of my first questions is "Where is the best place to get coffee?" I like my lattes to look pretty of course but I also like them to taste delicious! A fun little fact...the finish line of all of my training runs also happens to be Starbucks. When I see the green sign, I know I am almost done with my run.
I have been asked quite a few times where my favorite coffee shops are so I am listing them below. If you have any coffee shops that I should try please let me know! Even if they are not in Houston, I would like to hear where they are so I can make sure to visit them when I travel.
My Top 5 Favorite Coffee Shops
1.) The Honeymoon CafeThe Honeymoon Cafe was the location of the photos above in this post. It was the week of Christmas and I was enjoying a white peppermint latte! The Honeymoon Cafe not only has great coffee, they have delicious food too! It feels so warm and cozy inside especially during the holidays. This place is very special to me because we took some of our engagement photos here and we got married right across the street at the Hotel Icon. Every year on our wedding anniversary we go for a long run to The Honeymoon Cafe for a pic then run back home. They have a great brunch too! I can never decide between a hot or iced coffee soooo... I order BOTH! A hot vanilla latte and an iced Crud, it's cold brew coffee, espresso, chicory, vanilla and cream. Basically, it's delicious and you just have to try one for yourself! I literally chug it all in two sips! Sluuuurrrppp!
2. Boomtown Coffee Boomtown Coffee is located in the hip area of The Heights on W.19th St. It's nestled in between quaint shops and stores and feels like a welcoming neighborhood coffee shop. I like to grab a coffee and walk around. Fun fact, Boomtown Coffee is the coffee served at The Honeymoon Cafe. Once I found that out, I knew that's why I liked it so much! The inside decor is so modern and polished. There is also vibrant art hanging on the wall that adds nice pops of color to the clean white decor. You can take your laptop and get some work done or just sit back and enjoy a nice cup of joe. The line is usually pretty long which is expected for such deliciousness! I like to order an iced Crud Mocha with an espresso ice cube! Needless to say, it will definitely help you tackle your to-do list!
3. Catalina Coffee Catalina Coffee is a cozy little coffee shop that serves yummy coffee and pastries! It's nestled in between The Heights and Downtown Houston and has a calm atmosphere with chill music playing in the background. I like to visit Catalina coffee to relax and it is also a great spot to catch up with a friend or meet a colleague. I like to treat myself to a caramel latte paired with an almond croissant. The iced chai lattes are really good too! Go ahead, treat yo-self!
4. Fellini CaffeI love sweets! When I want to go somewhere for a sweet treat coffee and dessert, I go to Fellini. I stumbled upon this place when I was shopping one day and I had my husband take me for dessert that night. It's located in the busy Rice Village Shopping area but has a feel that you are somewhere else. You can sit outside on a nice night too! I make sure to leave room for dessert when I come here because I like to order the Caramellato to drink and a few, I mean one cannoli, yes just one cannoli. Wink, wink!
5. AgoraIf you want to escape to an old world European atmosphere then visit Agora. I had heard about it for a while before trying it and I was glad when I finally did. Not only do they offer coffee, they have wine, champagne, Greek Freddo, baklava and on some occasions, belly dancing! It has a very eclectic feel and you really feel that you are visiting Greece. The atmosphere is lively but you can also find a table to have a nice convo with friends or a loved one. I like to pretend that I have traveled abroad to Greece when I visit Agora so I order the Freddo Cappucino and baklava. Enjoy!
Now put on your favorite pink accessories and go enjoy of one these creme de la creme coffee shops! I hope you love them as much as I do! Have a Happy PINK Caffeinated Day and remember to always be Running on Rosé!
Happy January loves! I hope everyone is having a fabulous start to the New Year! I am loving this unusually cold Houston weather! I have really enjoyed actually getting to wear my winter wardrobe this season. I get excited to choose my outfits for the day instead of just admiring them in my closet like past winters. I don't know if y'all know but I love pink! When I saw this pink shawl collar coat I knew it had to be mine. The color reminds me of bubble gum and it definitely brightens up a cold, gray day. I am surprised with how much it actually goes with. I have worn it with grays, blues, purples and even different patterns like stripes and leopard. I love to wear leopard with pink! In my personal style diary, leopard and pink are considered neutrals. The beauty of a pretty coat is that you can really wear it with just about anything and it'll still look good. I like to dress mine up with bright fun accessories and heels or wear them more causally with a nice flat or even sneakers. As far as anyone knows, you could be wearing pajamas underneath your favorite coat, especially if you're doing a quick Starbucks drive-thru run! Guilty!
Have you ever thought of a coat as being special or memorable? Ever since I was young, I loved nice coats. I remember my mom had different coats for different occasions and I always played dress up in them. When I was old enough to fit into them, I would (ahem) borrow them and make sure to have them back in her closet before she came home from work. Growing up, I had always admired a glam black coat that my mom wore for special occasions. She had her name "Celerina" monogrammed on the inside and lucky for me, since we have the same name, I am now the proud owner of that lovely black coat. Thanks mom! A tradition that I have done for the last several years is to keep concert, play, or any special event tickets in my coat pockets. I leave the tickets in the pockets as a nice memento of a good time. I love putting my hands in my favorite coat pocket and pulling out a Trans Siberian Orchestra ticket from 2011. It brings back memories and makes me smile.
Stay bundled, stay warm and remember to always be Running on Rosé!
